Terms of Service
Plain version: this is a free tool. Use it for whatever, however often you want. We don't promise it's perfect, and we're not responsible for outcomes that depend on its output. By using the site, you agree to these terms.
1. The service
Dice is a free web application that simulates rolling dice for board games and tabletop role-playing games. It is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including (but not limited to) warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
2. Acceptable use
You agree to use the site lawfully and not to:
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the site's normal operation.
- Reverse-engineer the site for the purpose of harming users or distributing malware.
- Scrape the site at a rate that imposes an unreasonable load on the hosting infrastructure.
- Use the site in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations.
Casual personal use, including embedding the URL in a board game group chat or playing remotely with friends, is explicitly encouraged.
3. No guarantee of availability
We don't promise the site will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted. The site may be unavailable due to maintenance, hosting issues, or other reasons. We are not liable for any inconvenience or loss caused by such interruptions.
4. Randomness disclaimer
Dice rolls are generated using the browser's crypto.getRandomValues() API
with rejection sampling. While this is cryptographically strong randomness suitable for
casual gaming, the service is not certified for use in regulated gambling, lotteries, or
any context with monetary or legal stakes. Don't use it for those.
5. No liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operators of this site are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the site, including (but not limited to) lost games, hurt feelings, ruined campaigns, or unfortunate Catan rolls.
6. Intellectual property
The Dice app's source code is published on GitHub under an open-source license โ see the repository for details. Game names referenced in presets ("D&D", "Yahtzee", "Monopoly", "Catan", "Risk", "Backgammon") are the property of their respective trademark holders. References here are nominal, for the purpose of indicating compatibility, and do not imply endorsement.
7. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Significant changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the site operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
